Yesterday afternoon we took Matilda to the pediatrician to see about the rash on the back of her neck she kept scratching.
Pediatrician: Do either one of you have sensitive skin?
Me: *raises hand*
Pediatrician: Does it run in your family?
Me: Got it from my mother!
Pediatrician: Well it looks like Matilda got it from you.
Me: *stupid parent*

Moran. I should get a brain.
Dear Matilda. Welcome to the world of "unscented" and "hypoallergenic" and "for sensitive skin". No more smelling like lavender! You and me, we use the same products, kid. You get Cetaphil and Dove and Lubriderm. And some hydrocortisone for that rash.
Now. I know you've all been wondering about her Adventures in Toilet Training. On Tuesday, I decided to start putting diapers on her again because the laundry was knee-deep and we were running out of towels to let her pee on. We're still catching her cues about 40% of the time.
Parents spend an awful lot of time watching their babies cues for hunger and tired. Watching for the "I need to go to the bathroom" cues is about the same thing. I realized that I used to think her "Gotta pee!" cue was an "I'm bored pick me up" cue. So the poor kid, for months everytime she had to pee I picked her up and waved another toy in her face. And she was all, I just need to pee! Now, even if I don't get her to the toilet (am lazy) I know what she's up to. It's very cool. Am now a hippie.
Plus! I've managed to get her to poop in the toilet. TWICE.
Who's the moran now, huh? Go USA.
