I've probably got 4 minutes to write and post something, anything, before Matilda wakes up from her early morning nap and I have to dress her and pack the car and drop her at daycare an hour late and then drive into the office an hour late and then leave half an hour early so I can wade through traffic to pick her up by 5:30.
She's napping and we're running late because she is sick and miserable and spent most of the day yesterday wailing and throwing her head back at the indignity of it. It's your basic head cold which has naturally gone straight to her ears and infected them. But since she's got the tubes in, the antibiotics are topical and not wont to cause intestinal distress and hopefully there is no painful pressure in her bitty little head.
Jesus. I'm so sick of this.
I drop her at daycare, she picks up something and that something moves to her ears. It happens once a week, just about. I'm sick to death of it and I'm sure she'd said that same if she could.
But she's not quite there yet with her language skills. She can say the following, however:
Elbo (Elmo)
Ow (meow - works for all pets, so far)
Bah (ball)
Bawda (Bath in Swedish. This is accompanied by right-handed finger-pointing and stair-climbing.)
Blalala (Banana. Which she will ask for and then rarely eat.)
Mama (Well. She's said it once, at least. It counts.)
She can also shake her head vigourously and point at, well, anything. For any reason.
Her favorite place to be these days is on top of the kitchen island.
She's learned the few signs we've gotten it together to teach her. Her favorite by far is "more."
She uses it when she wants more easter bunny or more cheese. She uses it when she wants me to tickle her again or throw her on the bed or give her the milk cap. Last night she used it when she wanted me to hide behind the counter again.
MORE MORE MORE! Along with her sign for "up", she can pretty much get her point across. Maybe I should teach her "take me out of daycare so I stop getting sick."
