A Flickr user recently alerted me to the fact that another user had spent the last year stealing screengrabs of our photographs and had created quite a life for herself. The details are bizarre and specific and apparently, my recent summer of 5k races was not grand enough for her as she turned them into 10 milers and 50 mile bike races. She's done this before, apparently, stealing photos from other people. She says she lives in NYC, this time as a triage nurse. In a previous time with someone else's photos, she was a NY fire fighter post 9/11.
We don't know much about the real person, except she lives in Texas. Has a LiveJournal and a gmail and an IM account. Is bat-shit crazy. And she's forced me to make the majority of our Flick photos private.
(If you're not a member of Flickr and/or can't see any photos of Matilda's face, create a Flickr acccount and/or let me know who you are there and I can grant you access.)
I'm not sure what all this means for the future of this blog. I'd been feeling a little gun-shy about posting the last few months anyway, but to be forced to close up shop just doesn't feel right. I don't know. It's not like we have an audience here, aside from friends and family. I guess I could just lock it to the public, like the photos, and give those who actually know us the password. But that doesn't do anything for me. As much as I'm gun-shy about posting with the possibility of the world at large finding it, the idea of posting for a specific few leaves me dry.
Eh. In the meantime, I'm just leaving this as is. If .Angela. wanted to rip any of this off, she's had more than ample time. Taking it down now won't do any good.
