This is More for Me Than it is for You

*pbbbbt*

Here's a short movie of Matilda standing up in her crib. She'll stand up with the help of anything, but the crib has those handy spindles.

The movie is from this morning and while I was not home to witness it, I can now sit at work and watch her doing it over and over and over again.

I love how pleased with herself she is and double-love how it looks like she's got a fauxhawk.

*still watching*

I Started This Post Two Weeks Ago

Today Matilda is 9 months and 9 days old. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with her. I can still out-crawl her, but writing down the things she learns, that's becoming a challenge. Too much! Too fast! Can't turn my back! Certainly don't have time to mark the date. Thus, here's a collection of things she's been up to recently:

She's standing unassisted and walking with a little help. She refuses food from a spoon unless it's my spoon and my food. Otherwise, she can feed herself, thank you very much. Some of the things she's been feeding herself recently are pomegranate seeds and hummus. Animal crackers and chocolate cake. Asparagus. Cornbread stuffing. Dried cranberries. Couscous and roasted pork loin. Chicken curry. A grilled cheese sandwich. Chili.

She's discovered that dropping plastic balls into the green chute is a little like playing the slots. There are bright lights and big noises. She blinks when she lets go. She knows what's coming.

This one is pink...

Just this past week she's begun to show interest in her stuffed animals and just last night, at Niclas' prompting, she kissed her Curious George stuffed animal.

Two weeks ago, after two 30 minute naps and several attempts to get to the Tivo box, Matilda sat on the living room floor, threw both fists in the air, gritted her gums, set her jaw and had Baby's First Temper Tantrum. I'm sure I won't find these funny in a few months, but the first one was hilarious. Matilda has WILL, y'all. Look out.

Not funny presently: She recently woke up only to come down with a fever. AGAIN. This fever would mark Round Three of the Fever/Ear Infections/Antibiotics train and I'm about as over it as she must be. The tantrum was funny. The fever is not. But I think I know why we all keep getting sick.

Why we all keep getting sick

Right?

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Matilda has been given her first piece of Tiffany's jewelry. It's a bit big yet, but she's found a way to get around with it.

Maybe I Should Write Something, Right?

But I'm sort of slack-jawed in the face of the following.

Hits the spot

Last night after Matilda and I returned home we sat on the kitchen floor and she had a snack. She handed me the tupperware container of strawberries and raspberries I had sent her to daycare with. She had eaten none of them in daycare, but on the floor at home before her dinner and before I even had a chance to change my clothes, she ate all the berries and then an entire banana.

She'd stand in front of me and open her mouth for a bite. Then she'd walk to the right of me, put her hands on my knee so she could lean in, and open her mouth for a bite. Then she'd walk back to front and center and rub her belly with her little hands as if to say "mmm mmm good" and open her mouth for yet another bite.

She killed me dead a hundred times in the span of that banana.

This video has nothing to do with the banana, but she was killing me here too. I've taken to blowing raspberries on her neck specifically because she pushes me away in a combination of giggles and annoyance. I find this a very fun game.

Using up all her minutes

Matilda called all her friends today to spread the word.

She's going to have a little sister to boss around.

Girl!
